Under The Hedge

Two of America's foremost fantasy artists, Hap Henriksen and Real Musgrave have brought their talented hands and minds together and created a seasonal series of figurines called HedgeFolkä. These delightful little creatures - almost human in appearance - live Under The Hedge in London's Kensington Gardens. Although humans rarely see them, they are believed to have lived in Kensington Gardens for many generations. Lilliput Lane's series shows a family group of HedgeFolkä, in the late Victorian period, the Christmas of 1889, all arriving for a very special, family, Yuletide party.

Their Victorian Christmas brings back feelings of warmth and family, feasting and friends. It is a time of wonder, a time of laughter - when the snow covered community under the hedge rings with joyous sounds and abounds with good spirit.

So come along, bend down, and quietly peer through the dense foliage of the hedges, where an enchanted world awaits you.

Lilliput Lane Land of Legend will be introducing more HedgeFolkä in the months and seasons to come.

Hap & Real

Hap Henriksen and Real Musgrave first met in 1979 and immediately recognized each other as kindred spirits. Although from different backgrounds, both had grown up on family stories steeped in legends of fairies, elves, witches and other fantastic figures. Hap's tales were Danish - Real's tales were English. As their friendship progressed, they discovered how much each one cared about continuing in his own work the tradition of imagination, fine detail and craftsmanship found in the best Victorian fantasy art. Wives and friends soon learned that these two convivial , bearded, pipe-puffing artists dressed in tweeds could talk 'til dawn about their passionate feelings for their art - and still have more to say when morning came.

Since that first meeting, Hap and Real have gone on to become highly successful artists, and although they have participated in many of the same gallery openings, museum shows and fantasy conferences, never before have they actually combined their talents to create a single vision. Lilliput Lane Land of Legend is proud to present a unique collaboration by these two special artists.
